The Witch (2015)

This Robert Eggers horror flick from A24 stars Anya Taylor-Joy in her 2015 breakthrough role as Thomasin, a teenage girl who follows her Puritan family to a secluded farm in the forest after they are banished from their community in 1630 New England.

But when Thomasin’s baby brother goes missing on her watch, her distrustful mother begins to suspect her of witchcraft. As things get more and more dire on the farm and Thomasin’s father fails to make enough of a living to support his family, Thomasin takes matters into her own hands.

This is the type of movie that will make you glad you live in the 21st century instead of 400 years ago in Puritanical times.
