Constellation, a new, much buzzed-about online movie theater that turns watching movies online into a social experience, recently announced the debut of Top Docs, its first lineup of documentary films. This specially curated program, which lasts until the end of November, allows a wide range of documentary moviemakers to discuss their work in real-time following online screenings of their films. Top Docs kicked off on November 3rd with a screening of Albert Maysles’ groundbreaking documentary Grey Gardens, followed by a special Q&A with the acclaimed documentarian himself. This was followed on November 4th with a screening of the SXSW Best Documentary Feature winner Marwencol and a live Q&A with director Jeff Malmberg.
Upcoming Top Docs screenings—all of them hosted by the film’s director(s)—include Rob Epstein’s Academy-Award winning The Times of Harvey Milk, Michael Palmieri and Donal Mosher’s October Country, Eric Metzgar’s Chances of the World Changing and Tia Lessen and Carl Deal’s Trouble the Water.
Also through Constellation, actor Channing Tatum will host special screenings of his adventure epic The Eagle on Sunday, November 13 and Thursday, November 17. Tatum will be taking questions directly from the audience, live via webcam, both during and after the movie. Tickets are $6.99 and are available at www.constellation.tv/eagle.
