This classic gangster film takes place in South Boston and is loosely based on the real-life Winter Hill gang. Mob boss Frank Costello (Nicholson) plants Collin Sullivan (Damon) as a spy in the Massachusetts State Police, where he serves as a double agent secretly working against his department. At the same time, the police assign undercover agent Billy Costigan (DiCaprio) to infiltrate Costello’s gang. Things get complicated when Costigan and Sullivan realize each other’s missions.
