There was a glut of new movies to go along with the glut of food over Thanksgiving weekend, but it was still Twilight that reigned supreme. Breaking Dawn – Part 1, the fourth movie in the Twilight saga, held onto the number one spot; its $42 million weekend gross brings its total so far to $221.3 million. The Muppets came in second place, its weekend gross of $29.5 million making it the highest-grossing movie of all new releases to come out last weekend. A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (weekend gross $16.4 million, total gross $31.6 million) benefited from the more-or-less official beginning to the holiday season, jumping five spots to number three after having spent the last two weekends out of the top five. Rounding out the top five were Happy Feet Two (weekend gross $13.4 million, total gross $43.7 million) and new release Arthur Christmas (weekend gross $12.7 million). Despite glowing reviews, Martin Scorsese’s Hugo (weekend gross $11.3 million) failed to crack the top five, coming in instead at number six.

Among the limited releases to come out over the long weekend were My Week With Marilyn ($1.7 million), The Artist ($210,414) and A Dangerous Method ($181,852).

Next weekend sees an abundance of limited releases hitting theaters, including Khodorkovsky, Answers to Nothing, Knuckle, The Lady, Outrage, Shame, Sleeping Beauty and A Warrior’s Heart.
