After a record-breaking night of midnight shows, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse came in at number one, earning $69 million in its first weekend, with a total gross of $161.7 million in its first five days. Despite being panned by critics nearly across the board, The Last Airbender took spot number two, earning $40.6 million over the weekend, and $53.2 million in its first four days. Toy Story 3 fell from spot one to spot three (weekend gross $30.1 million, total gross $289 million), Grown Ups took spot four (weekend gross $18.5 million,total gross $77 million) and Knight and Day took spot number five (weekend gross $10.2 million, total gross $45.5 million).
Love Ranch, based on the true-life couple (played by Helen MIrren and Joe Pesci) who opened the first legal brothel in Nevada, opened in just 11 theaters with a total gross of $4,497.
Out next weekend are Despicable Me and Predators in wide release. In limited release will be The Kids Are All Right, [Rec] 2 and Winnebago Man. But more important than all that—July 8th is the release of the Grease Sing-A-Long, so ready your leather jackets and poodle skirts!
