Donnie Brasco (1997)
Although this movie as a whole leaves a bit to be desired, Pacino’s performance is one of the best things about it.
Following Johnny Depp as undercover FBI agent Donnie Brasco, who infiltrates a New York City crime family. Pacino plays mafia hitman Lefty Ruggiero, who takes Donnie under his wing and vouches for him. Pacino plays the character with such depth, with both tough and gentle sides.
It makes it all the more heart-wrenching when Donnie realizes that the deeper he gets into his operation, the more he puts Lefty in danger.
