The Black Panther star posthumously received his first Emmy nomination for reprising his role as King T’Challa in the Disney+ animated series What If…? from Marvel Studios. The series reimagines events from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and explores the multi-verse.
Boseman died of colon cancer on Aug. 28, 2020. He is joined by fellow posthumous nominees Norm MacDonald and Jessica Walter, though both had been nominated before.
