The 2011 Golden Globes took place last night, and while most of the winners were fairly easy to predict and no one wore anything too ridiculous, Ricky Gervais did host, which was expected to provide some drama. He certainly didn’t disappoint. We’re now one step closer to the Academy Awards; nominations are announced on January 25th.

The winners for the movie categories at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards are as follows:

Best Motion Picture–Drama: The Social Network
Best Motion Picture–Musical or Comedy: The Kids Are All Right
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture–Drama: Colin Firth, The King’s Speech
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture–Drama: Natalie Portman, Black Swan
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture–Musical or Comedy: Paul Giamatti, Barney’s Version
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture–Musical or Comedy: Annette Bening, The Kids Are All Right
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture: Christian Bale, The Fighter
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture: Melissa Leo, The Fighter
Best Director: David Fincher, The Social Network
Best Screenplay: Aaron Sorkin, The Social Network
Best Original Song: Diane Warren (“You Haven’t Seen The Last of Me”), Burlesque
Best Original Score: Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, The Social Network
Best Animated Film: Toy Story 3
Best Foreign Language Film: In a Better World
