I’ve saved my favorite film on this list for last. Starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, this 1993 romantic comedy doesn’t seem like it would be a tear-jerker at first, but don’t worry — it is. It follows Hanks as a single, widowed dad whose son calls into a radio show and tells the host that his dad needs a new wife. Enter Meg Ryan, who might just be that person — if they can manage to actually meet each other. Come for for the meet-cute, stay for the it’s-just-so-perfect-I-could-cry love story.
