When Frank Sheeran First Meets Jimmy Hoffa
“Russell introduced me to Jimmy in the first place back in the fifties,” Sheeran says in I Heard You Paint Houses. That’s when they had the fateful phone call where Hoffa (played by Al Pacino in the film) tells Sheeran, “I heard you paint houses,” and Sheeran responds, “I do my own carpentry work, too.” (It happens in the film pretty much exactly as it happens in the book.)
Sheeran is in his mid- to-late 30s during the phone call, and Hoffa, who was born in 1913, is in his mid-40s.
Here’s Pacino as Hoffa during the phone call scene:

The de-aging was kind of eerie. I could detect a kind of higher definition and luminosity in the de-aged face of De Niro. It was also obvious that the younger looking faces were sitting on top of older -looking and -acting bodies. But I suspended my disbelief.
