HamptonsFilm Sets Lineup for 2022 SummerDocs Film Series Presented by Alec Baldwin

HamptonsFilm has announced the lineup for its 2022 SummerDocs Film Series presented by Alec Baldwin and co-curated by artistic director David Nugent.

The three films being shown at the 14th annual event are National Geographic’s Fire of Love directed by Sara Dosa, which will screen on Saturday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m.; CNN Films and HBO Max’s Navalny directed by Daniel Roher, screening on July 23 at 7:00 p.m.; and Showtime’s Nothing Lasts Forever directed by Jason Kohn, screening on August 12 at 7:00 p.m.

Baldwin and Nugent will host conversations with all three filmmakers following each monthly screening at the Regal UA East Hampton Cinema in East Hampton, New York.

From Nat Geo and Neon, Fire of Love premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and tells the story of two French lovers, Katia and Maurice Krafft, who died in a volcanic explosion doing the very thing that brought them together: unraveling the mysteries of our planet. Navalny, from CNN Films, HBO Max, Fishbowl Films, Raefilm Studios and Cottage M, is a thriller about anti-authoritarian Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny that won the 2022 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award and Festival Favorite Award. It follows Navalny’s historic journey and decision to return home following an assassination attempt. Nothing Lasts Forever premiered at Berlinale this year and follows filmmaker Jason Kohn as he infiltrates the highly secretive diamond industry and uncovers a crime that could threaten the value of every diamond ever mined.

“SummerDocs is an annual highlight for our audiences out East, and we are delighted to welcome film lovers to East Hampton to enjoy the fine documentaries Alec and David have worked hard to carefully select,” said HamptonsFilm executive director Anne Chaisson.

“As always, we strive to program our SummerDocs series with some of the year’s most talked-about documentaries, and our fourteenth edition is no exception,” Nugent added. “We are excited to share a diverse lineup of award-winning films that illustrate incredible stories and topical issues that matter to our audiences.”

HamptonsFilm was founded in 1992 as a non-profit organization with year-round screenings of global narrative and documentary films, as well as an illustrious screenwriters lab. Coming up this fall, the 30th annual Hamptons International Film Festival — one of MovieMaker‘s 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee — will take place from October 7 through the 16.
