8 Creepiest Horror Movies on Max, From Malignant to Hereditary

Donnie Darko

Are you scared of rabbits? You will be.

This early Jake Gyllenhaal film — which also stars his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal — is about a young man who is either descending into madness or predicting a horrible calamity no one else can see. The late, great Patrick Swayze plays way against type as an absolute creep.

This one’s worth watching just for a wild cast that also includes Drew Barrymore, Seth Rogen and Jena Malone, but the atmospherics make it likely to haunt you for, well, ever. You’ll sleep with the cellar door locked tight.
