11 Actors Who’ve Held Their Breath Underwater for an Absurdly Long Time

Shelly Winters (The Poseidon Adventure, 1972)

Shelly Winters reportedly learned to hold her breath for up to four minutes while making the ensemble-cast disaster epic The Poseidon Adventure, about an aging luxury liner overturned by a tsunami. She was rewarded with an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Winters died in 2006 at the age of 85.
