It really is amazing how much drama you can add to a scene with a little motion from the perfect camera on a good slider. The Shark Slider Mini—the latest from iFootage, a company that specializes in cranes, sliders, and monopods—offers filmmakers the smallest three-axis motion slider available. It runs on a lightweight, expandable beltless track, making it literally a snap to throw together wherever you might need a softer camera pass.
Made of aluminum alloy and weighing in at just 3.3 lbs., you can easily throw it in a rucksack and take it out in even the harshest of elements. On a single track, the camera can travel nearly 2 feet – enough to expand your field of view exponentially. You can add a pan and tilt module, giving your camera a range of up to 35 degrees of tilt on both sides, with speed and focus controlled by an app on your phone.
This slider may be the smallest three-axis variety ever made, but it comes with a detachable mini flywheel, and plug-and-play motion system, as well as an adjustable base that allows you to work on unique and awkward angles. A base-unit costs about $450, and a version with more track, extra accessories, and the X2 mini pan and tilt head attachment can bring the total up near $1,300.
