“Bold programming, a huge lineup, a beautiful country and a wonderful team” are the main ingredients at Switzerland’s Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival, says a panelist. Constructing its programming scheme is a “central axis” of fantastic cinema, and “complementary axes” of Asian cinema and digital creation. Moviemakers vie for top prizes in competitions that focus on international features, new Asian features, and short Swiss fantastic films. Each year, Neuchâtel organizes a symposium bringing together designers, scientists and industrialists to explore cutting-edge artistic and technological innovations, doubling down on their bet that the future of subversive cinema is taking shape in the digital realm.
