Steven Spielberg, Spike Lee, George Lucas, Oliver Stone, Ang Lee, Robert Rodriguez are just some of the directors that received their first awards at this festival. The festival we’re talking about is WorldFest Houston, the oldest independent film festival in the world.
Hunter Todd founded the International Film Society in 1961, which became Worldfest in 1968. This year is the 43rd annual festival, April 9-19, 2010, showcasing 50-60 feature films and 100 short films.
It has 12 major competitions leaving many filmmakers winners, but it is still cut throat. Todd got down to the nitty gritty with MM about this worldly festival.
