Mira Nair
Nair’s early career is defined by her works in India, including Salaam Bombay! and Monsoon Wedding, both of which received worldwide critical acclaim. Thanks to her successes, Nair has frequently dabbled in mainstream moviemaking, with these works including Vanity Fair, Amelia and, most recently Queen of Katwe. Her sensibilities have effectively translated overseas, including her explorations of strong female characters and family dynamics. While these films have met with varying degrees of success, she is still an important and successful female director, who continues to get work both in the United States and in India.
