Watchmen Inspires Its Own Brand of Coffee for Nite Owls

In Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, after saving residents from a tenement fire, characters Dan Dreiberg (a.k.a. Nite Owl) and Laurie Juspeczyk welcome the survivors onto the Owl Ship and offer them some coffee. Veidt Enterprises’ “Nite Owl Dark Roast” is the imaginary brand of coffee they brew. Now, movie fans and java junkies alike can drink their own Nite Owl brand.

Watchmen on-set photographer Clay Enos has enlisted his coffee company, Organic Coffee Cartel (OCC), to produce a coffee for the film in the first movie tie-in of its kind. A portion of the proceeds from the special roast will be donated to charity.

“Making an imaginary coffee into something real seemed like a fitting and fun way to honor the multilayered world of Watchmen,” says Enos. “And having a majority of profits go to charity seems a little like something [Watchmen character] Adrian Veidt would do.”

Along with making the collectible can, the OCC is sponsoring a contest for one lucky customer to win two tickets to the Los Angeles premiere and after-party for Watchmen on March 3rd, 2009.

The limited-edition coffee, which features Enos’ black-and-white portrait of Patrick Wilson as masked crusader Nite Owl on the side of the can, can only be purchased online through http://www.organiccoffee.com
