New Jersey high school student and member of a rock band, Nick O’Leary (Michael Cera) is having a very tough time getting over being dumped by his girlfriend, Tris (Alexis Dziena). But when his bandmates Thom (Aaron Yoo) and Dev (Rafi Gavron) tell him that their favorite group is playing somewhere in Manhattan that night, he rises from his funk and heads into town. At the first club, he sees Tris with another guy. So does her schoolmate, Norah Silverberg (Kat Dennings), who refusing to be intimidated by Tris for being there with her pal Caroline (Ari Graynor) instead of with a date, latches on to Nick. They begin to talk and find they have more in common than either of them thought. Then, when the very drunk Caroline goes missing, the newly acquainted pair spends the rest of the night looking for her, and ends up finding much more than either thought they could. Great fun. Great music.
