Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund Recipients Announced

Gucci and The Tribeca Film Institute have teamed up for the second time to help documentary moviemakers with the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund.

This year the TFI chose seven projects out of 350 submissions from 41 countries to receive grants ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 apiece, for a total of $100,000 to be doled out.

This fund is to help moviemakers finish documentary projects that promote social change with topics that aren’t exactly being covered in mainstream media.

“Their films show a high level of artistry and sensitivity in humanizing larger social and geo-political conflicts,” says Jane Rosenthal, co-chairman of the TFI board, of this year’s recipients. “The generous commitment from Gucci recognizes the importance of documentary filmmaking and together we are proud to support these filmmakers and are confident these films will contribute significantly to the conversations around the issues they address.”

*Jyllian Gunther, Growing Small

*Beth Murphy, The Promise of Freedom
