Clint Eastwood’s go-to cinematographer Thomas Stern will be on the “Cinematography” program at Training Ground, the festival for moviemakers and enthusiasts taking place this year in Espinho, Portugal.
With credits that include Million Dollar Baby, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Romance and Cigarettes, Flags of Our Fathers, Gran Torino and Changeling—the last of which earned him his first Oscar nomination—Stern’s been Eastwood’s primary cinematographer since 2003’s Mystic River and has recently collaborated with the actor-director again for the upcoming Invictus.
Beginning his career in 1974 as a lighting technician, Stern has moved up the ranks to become one of the world’s top experts in cinema. He will join other experts and acclaimed writers and directors at Training Ground, sharing his moviemaking insight at the one-week event that features deluxe training workshops to master classes and lectures.
Training Ground will take place from June 22nd to the 27th. For more information, visit http://www.trainingground.fest.pt.
