Sundance Dispatch, II: MovieMaker Sits Down with Jonathan Groff, Kyle Patrick Alvarez, and Two Egyptian Revolutionaries (Video)

This is the second installment in MovieMaker’s ongoing coverage of the 2013 Sundance Festival in Park City, Utah.

This time we sit down with director Kyle Patrick Alvarez and star Jonathan Groff of the US Dramatic Competition film C.O.G., based on an essay from David Sedaris’ 1997 collection NakedC.O.G. is the first attempt by any filmmakers at adapting Sedaris’ work to the big screen. In the film, Groff plays Samuel, who’s escaped his family for an idyllic life picking apples in a Washington orchard. Things take a grim and sardonic turn, though not surprisingly.

Later we chat with director Jehane Noujaim and subject Khalid Abdalla of the powerful Egyptian Revolution documentary, The Square. MM
