On February 23, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Reed Exhibitions announced that planning for Star Wars Celebration V is in progress. Star Wars Celebration is the official Lucasfilm convention celebrating all things Star Wars and is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back and the success of the television show “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” This year there are over 100 leading vendors, ranging from large corporations like Hasbro, Random House, and Lego to smaller independent companies.

“Even at this early stage, this Celebration is shaping up to be really big–maybe bigger than any of our previous events,” says Steve Sansweet, Head of Fan Relations at Lucasfilm. “We are still months away from Celebration V and we are already seeing an enormous amount of interest and enthusiasm from vendors and exhibitors, which is pretty unprecedented so far out. With such a varied slate of amazing vendors from all parts of the pop culture worlds, fans, families, and attendees are going to be in for a real treat.”

The Star Wars Celebration are the biggest Star Wars events held. This year the producers promise celebrity guests, prizes, and a chance for up-and-coming moviemakers to get tips from experienced ones.

Star Wars Celebration V takes place from August 12-15, 2010 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Visit www.starwarscelebration.com for more information.
