Sony is putting the power of HD in students’ hands. The company just announced its three-month “Behind the Lens” competition, open to students enrolled in a film or digital media program at an accredited college or university. Following each of the three rounds, online voters and a panel of expert judges will determine which students will advance in the competition.
During the first round, students may submit a three-minute film on a topic of their choice, shot in an HD format. In April, 10 semi-finalists will be provided with a Sony PMW-EX3 digital camcorder in order to shoot their next short, based on a given theme. In May, three finalists will shoot their final submission (based on a new theme) on Sony PMW-F3s. The results of the “Behind the Lens” competition will be announced on June 1st and the winner will take home a Sony PMW-F3.
