Final Draft’s ScriptXpert Leads Writer to Success

Burgeoning screenwriters, take note: Utilizing Final Draft could land you a movie deal. Final Draft, Inc., publisher of Final Draft scriptwriting software, congratulates its ScriptXpert client, Jeff York, for his recent success. York is currently signed with Trancas International Films, who will not only manage his writing career, but also hired him to adapt one of their projects. Trancas found York through the Final Draft, Inc. ScriptXpert coverage service, which had recommended York’s vampire-romance-with-a-twist script Incurable.

“The experience of using ScriptXpert has been phenomenal,” says York. “It’s a great way to not only improve your writing, but also have a shot at getting your story in the hands of someone who can do something to help launch your career.”

The ScriptXpert coverage service simulates the real-life entertainment industry submission process, wherein those who submit their script receive a detailed, authentic report from industry readers, providing feedback and suggestions on how to improve their script. And, as York’s story proves, using ScriptXpert can unexpectedly lead to great things.

When York received his report, he was impressed by the assigned ScriptXpert reader’s horror script knowledge. The reader’s critical and positive notes helped York revise his screenplay about a love affair between a man with cancer and a female vampire. After two exchanges of notes and drafts with the same reader, Incurable was finally recommended.

If a reader “recommends” a writer’s screenplay through ScriptXpert, it reaches the top level. Final Draft, Inc. then passes the client’s information—with the writer’s permission—to interested agents and producers.

Luckily, York’s buzzed-about script got into the hands of Sammy Montana, VP of Trancas International Films, who is always looking for the next horror box-office smash. “I read it and was blown away,” says Montana.

He soon signed the rising ScriptXpert star, allowing York to finally pursue his passion of a writing career. Now York plans to become a full-time screenwriter in L.A., thanks to submitting his script to Final Draft, Inc.
