Monty Python’s Life of Brian

This 1979 Monty Python comedy/satire, directed by Terry Jones, is set in Roman times in 33 A.D. It follows the adventures of Brian (Graham Chapman), who was born one stable down from Jesus on the very same night. In an attempt to impress a girl, he joins the independence movement against Rome and accidentally gets mistaken for Jesus. This film may be full of silliness, but it’s also a cool way to see what life was like during the Roman Empire. Monty Python’s Life of Brian streaming on Netflix as of this writing.
