No Strings Attached Ties Up the Box Office

This is a good week for Natalie Portman; her new film No Strings Attached grabbed the number one spot at the box office last weekend, earning $20.3 million. Oh, and she’ll also be receiving an Oscar nomination tomorrow for her work in Black Swan. Can’t forget that. Last week’s number one The Green Hornet dropped one spot (weekend gross $18.1 million, total gross $63.4 million), while The Dilemma (weekend gross $9.7 million, total gross $33.3 million), The King’s Speech (weekend gross $9.1 million, total gross $58.6 million) and True Grit (weekend gross $8 million, total gross $138.6 million) rounded out the top five, respectively.

Other new releases were The Way Back ($1.4 million), The Company Men ($767,328) and The Housemaid ($18,200 on only two theaters).

Next weekend’s new releases include The Mechanic and The Rite, both in wide release, and Biutiful, From Prada to Nada, Ip Man 2: Legend of the Grandmaster, Kaboom and When We Leave in limited release.
