In the wake of humongous opening-week numbers overseas, near-universal critical acclaim, and the tacit endorsement of the Pope, all’s well for the venerable James Bond franchise. As such, Skyfall screenwriter John Logan has been rewarded with the keys to both the 24th and 25th installments, fueling speculation he may be plotting a heretofore unprecedented multi-film arc. Steely-eyed, hulking, dreamboat Daniel Craig is having none of it, though, telling German blog Filmstarts that it’s “impossible” to take the two-part approach:

“We can only do them one at a time, they take six months to shoot. You can’t write one movie thinking about the next. All we’re trying to do is get the next one sorted out and it’ll stand on its own and if I’m able, I’ll do another one after that.”

Though his six-month commitment limit may elicit knowing chuckles from, say, the cast of Lord of the Rings, it stands to reason that Blonde Bond™ would hold some sway over how the remainder of his tenure in the tuxedo unfolds. Until more information surfaces, however, it appears the fate of the franchise will remain a mystery the rest of us can only hope to solve via cunning, style, marksmanship, brute strength, parkour, an impossibly expensive array of gadgets and rad cars, and, of course, the bedding of between six and twelve exotic babes.
