NewFilmmakers Los Angeles: Back on MovieMaker.com

During MovieMaker’s transition from New York to Los Angeles, one of the awesome features that fell by the wayside was regular updates from NewFilmmakers Los Angeles, the monthly screening series taking place in the heart of Hollywood at the Sunset Gower Studios.

The NewFilmmakers Series began over ten years ago in New York at the Famous Anthology Film Archives, where they screened over 500 features, 1600 shorts. A bunch of well-known have gotten discovered through NewFilmmakers, including Too Much Sleep, Zero Day, a little film called Blair Witch Project.

MovieMaker is proud to be rekindling its partnership with NFMLA, and every week for the rest of the year, we’re going to be featuring interviews with narrative, documentary, feature, and short filmmakers who’ve screened at the series since June. It’s great exposure for the participating moviemakers, but it also gives the auteurs in our audience a look inside one of the best venues for exhibiting their work to the public.

In this week’s lineup, we have Cans at Dawn by Nikki Roberts, Damascus Road by Joe Hall, Forever Beautiful by Noel Douglas Orput, Narcocorrido by Ryan Prows, Sandland: Summer’s Kiss by Adam Petke, Scenes of an Adult Nature by Samantha Whittaker, The Contract by Ryan Goldstein, The Kids Don’t Like It by Jeremy David White, When Skies are Blue by Tony Nawrocki, and You are the Blood by Rafael Morais.
