“Audition America” Teams With New York Film Academy

What ever happens to the winners of those all-too-popular reality show competitions? Sure, there’s always a seemingly useful grand prize appropriate to the competition’s genre, but once the series has aired and ended, the victor’s limelight usually fades along with it. Enter “Audition America,” a hybrid series that fixes this reality show dilemma.

Billed as “the only interactive casting competition and reality show for actors,” here’s how it works: Fans and industry judges search through video monologues on www.auditionamerica.tv and vote for their favorite new actor. The top 20 contestants then participate in a reality competition series to broadcast on television this fall. The winners (one male and one female) will share more than $100,000 in cash and prizes, and receive supporting roles in an upcoming feature-length film entitled Hidden. The psychological thriller is set to take place in the former West Virginia Penitentiary—a gothic-style hotspot for paranormal enthusiasts.

As if this weren’t enough, “Audition America”—produced by Cync Entertainment, a transmedia production company—has just announced a new partnership with the New York Film Academy, which will be providing each of the winners with a full-tuition scholarship for the school’s one-year Acting for Film conservatory program. The program places aspiring actors in front of the camera as early as their first week of the program. The program also focuses on the industry’s roots in theater, with the first semester culminating in a live performance. Students will earn a diploma as well as a DVD/film reel upon completion of the program.

“We are excited to have the New York Film Academy joining us,” says Cync Entertainment executive producer Suzette Latsko. “We look forward to building a relationship with the Academy as we move forward with the production of ‘Audition America.'”

With NYFA’s generous offer to further the winners’ training, as well as a slot in an upcoming feature, the competition winners are certainly two starlets audiences are guaranteed to see again.
