The new Samuel L. Jackson thriller Lakeview Terrace took the top spot at the box office this past weekend, earning $15.6 million. Last week’s victor, Burn After Reading, stayed strong, pulling in $11.3 million and slipping down a spot to number two. The Jason Biggs and Dane Cook comedy My Best Friend’s Girl came in at number three with $8.3 million while animated flick Igor (with a star-studded cast of voices) closely followed at number four with $8 million. Holding on at number five was the Jon Avnet feature Righteous Kill, which took in $7.7 million in its second week. Will Shia LaBeouf be as successful with next weekend’s Eagle Eye as he was with his last two efforts, Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, or will Spike Lee’s WWII feature Miracle at St. Anna beat out the competition? Return next week to the Top of the Box Office report to find out.
