The American Cinema Editors’ 61st Annual Eddie Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday, February 19th. As the ACE credo states, the Eddies honor those who have “advanced the art and science of the editing profession.” So which of these talented and innovative editors took home an Eddie? Well, it’s no surprise that Toy Story 3 (Ken Schretzmann and director Lee Unkrich, A.C.E.) scored the prize for Best Edited Animated Feature. The Eddie for Best Edited Comedy or Musical Feature went to Chris Lebenzon, A.C.E for Alice in Wonderland while, in a refreshing change from the usual socio-political documentary winners, Exit Through the Gift Shop earned the Best Edited Documentary Feature award for Tom Fulford and Chris King.

Though The King’s Speech is winning big at nearly every awards show, the award for Best Edited Dramatic Feature went to Angus Wall, A.C.E. and Kirk Baxter for The Social Network. For four out of the past five years, the film that won this Eddie has gone on to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards. So tune in to the Oscars on the 27th to see if the Eddies correctly predicted this year’s Best Picture winner.
