Zac Efron and the gang of High School Musical 3: Senior Year upstaged their box office competition once again this past weekend, pulling in $15 million. Coming in second with $10.7 million was Kevin Smith’s latest comedy Zack and Miri Make a Porno, closely followed by Saw V at number three with $10.1 million. Changeling, Clint Eastwood’s latest drama starring Angelina Jolie, earned $9.41 million and came in at number four. No doubt boosted by the spirit of Halloween, The Haunting of Molly Hartley made the number five spot, grossing $6.01 million. Next weekend marks the debut of two movies starring the late Bernie Mac: Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and Soul Men. Other debuting movies include Seann William Scott and Paul Rudd’s comedy Role Models and Darren Lynn Bousman’s organ-swapping musical and soon-to-be cult classic Repo! The Genetic Opera. Will one of these movies be able to close the curtain on High School Musical? Return to next week’s Top of the Box Office report to find out.
