Ever wish you could play a flesh-eating zombie in one of George A. Romero’s flicks? Well, now you might get your chance at the next best thing: Dressing up as a member of the undead, thanks to an official Zombie Walk taking place Sunday, May 16th in honor of the New York premiere of Romero’s latest, Survival of the Dead. The Zombie Walk starts at 2 p.m. at Madison Square Park and concludes at Village East Cinemas (12th Street and Second Avenue), where a screening of Survival of the Dead will take place at 4 p.m. In attendance will be none other than Romero himself, who will surely be thrilled (and possibly terrified) to be surrounded by his many zombie fans.
Survival of the Dead marks Romero’s sixth zombie feature since the 1968 classic, Night of the Living Dead. The movie (which immediately follows the events of 2008’s Diary of the Dead) takes place on a secluded island off the coast of North America, where the local residents must struggle to survive a zombie epidemic, while simultaneously trying to find a cure for their contaminated relatives. Starring Alan Van Sprang (“The Tudors”), Survival of the Dead premiered on Video On Demand, Amazon and XBOX Live April 30, and hits theaters May 28th.
So, what are you waiting for? Don’t miss your chance to strut your stuff on the Zombie Walk, meet Romero and watch the New York premiere of Survival of the Dead. It’s a zombie’s dream come true!
