What’s up with Badger and Skinny Pete?
The teasers for El Camino promised an update on Jesse’s meth-dealing pals, and it delivers. On the Breaking Bad finale, they posed as professional-grade “hitters” to help Walt terrorize Gretchen and Elliot into administering his long-term financial planning. But what then? The new film proves what we’ve always suspected: They’re a couple of sweet dudes who will do anything for a friend. It’s fun to imagine that the fat stacks they donate to Jesse’s escape fund are money that Walt gave them in the Breaking Bad finale, and that Walt, in an indirect way, is helping to finance Jesse’s survival.
One point of interest: A Skinny Pete interrogation scene featured in the El Camino promotional campaign never actually appears in the movie. We’ll wait for the Skinny Pete movie.
