The new Shia LaBeouf movie Eagle Eye conquered the box office this past weekend, grossing $29.2 million, with romantic drama Nights in Rodanthe taking second place by pulling in $13.6 million. Last weekend’s victor Lakeview Terrace remained in the top five, making $7 million and coming in at number three. New Kirk Cameron movie Fireproof took the fourth spot with $6.5 million while the Coen brothers’ Burn After Reading stayed strong at number five with $6.1 million. Contrary to expectations, Spike Lee flick Miracle at St. Anna came in at number nine, making only $3.5 million.
The fall releases How To Lose Friends & Alienate People and Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist will debut next weekend. Will one of these be able to take down Eagle Eye? Return next Monday to find out in MM‘s Top of the Box Office report.
