Dale Dickey and Wes Studi play two old flames who reunite for the first time since they were school kids in the trailer for writer-director Max Walker-Silverman’s A Love Song, out today from Bleecker Street and Stage6 Films.

“Reckon you can still love something that ain’t there no more?” Dickey, an actress of the stage and screen known for Hell or High Water and Winter’s Bone, says as Faye in the trailer.

“I’m meeting someone here, supposed to be,” she says. “I knew him as a kid. Not even sure what he looks like anymore.”

Faye (Dickey) is a lone traveler biding her time fishing, birding and stargazing at a rural Colorado campground as she awaits the arrival of Lito (Studi, The Last of the Mohicans, Penny Dreadful) a figure from her past who is navigating his own tentative and nomadic journey across the rugged West, according to the film’s official description.

Much like the essence of heartbreak and resilience that runs through American country music, A Love Song goes in search of a love that can transform a person’s heart, no matter their age.

When Faye finally meets him again, Lito shows up at her trailer with a fistful of flowers.

“You know me?” she asks him.
“I don’t know. Do you know me?” he replies.

A Love Song is written and directed by Max Walker-Silverman (Lefty/Righty, Chuj Boys of Summer), who was nominated for the NEXT Innovator Award at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.

In addition to Dale Dickey and Wes Studi, the film also stars Michelle Wilson, Benja K. Thomas, John Way, and Marty Grace Dennis.

Dan Janvey (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Nomadland) produces alongside Waler-Silverman and Jesse Hope (Lefty/Righty, Chuj Boys of Summer). Executive producers are Bill Way (Cryptozoo, Quantum Cowboys), Jack McAdoo
(Outsiders, Offseason) and Jan McAdoo (The Trial of the Chicago 7, Outsiders).

A Love Song hits theaters on July 29. You can watch the trailer above.
