  • Thanks for the light-hearted and informative content during this time. I was a subscriber years back, then moved to picking up some individual issues at Barnes and Noble as my interest in the Hollywood machine dried up. Eventually I stopped reading altogether, but continued to get emails. Your articles for the past couple of weeks has shown me two things: MovieMaker is still just as good as it ever was, and while I don't have much use for Hollywood as a whole, I'll forever love cinema and filmmaking!

  • I noticed that features and info is a lot harder to find on the website than before. I teach film at a university and I am a subscriber so I always brag on MovieMaker as something my students should be reading regularly, ideally via subscription. Now that our university is strictly online for the rest of the semester I was going to have them pick a "things I have learned as a moviemaker" from a filmmaker they admire and start a thread on it but it looks like the old dropdown menus for running features are gone.

I imagine you want to drive subscriptions, which is totally fair because your content is absolutely worth what you ask for it, but maybe you could keep some material available to non-subscribers, like maybe things that are >3 years old?

Just a suggestion, I'm trying to hook the next generation on you guys!!

  • Re your awards article, one cannot have made over a certain amount in BOTH writing TV scripts as well as screenwriting for Nicholl, not just the latter. For a hot minute after reading your article, I thought I could apply. but, I'll keep writing. One contest erased from my competition list won't discourage me.

  • I normally enjoy reading this email but I will unsubscribe after today. To read something that tells me and I quote....." Plus: a Klansman whose 1963 church bombing was the subject of a Spike Lee film is finally dead.". That is disgusting. I dont care who the man was. People have family.

  • In regards to the movie "I care alot". It is that bad in Clark County, NV. Watch "The Guardians". I believe it is available on Amazon prime. One of the most disturbing things I've ever seen.
