Casey Anthony prepares to tell her side of the story in the trailer for the new Peacock limited series Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies.

“I lied,” a tearful Anthony says in the trailer, released on Tuesday. “But no one asked why.”

Out on Nov. 29, Peacock describes the three-part limited series like this: “Considered one of the first ‘trials of the century’ that polarized conversation in living rooms across America, the Casey Anthony case is one that still leaves more questions than answers. There have been several movies and documentaries made to fill in the gaps, and yet, the woman at the center of it all remains the biggest mystery. Throughout the exclusive three-part documentary series, Casey Anthony finally tells her side of the story and addresses the public that has made so many assumptions for the past 13 years.”

Now, Anthony is explaining herself. The trailer teases her answer as to why she didn’t report Caylee missing for 31 days — and according to People, the limited series finds Anthony accusing her father of bearing the responsibility for Caylee’s death in 2008. MovieMaker could not reach George Anthony for comment, but according to Fox News, he and his wife, Cindy Anthony, did not respond to a request for comment on Casey’s accusation. Neither of them have ever been charged in connection with Caylee’s death.

The release of Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies has been met with much displeasure on Twitter, where people are upset that Anthony is being given a platform.

“I don’t have a peacock subscription but if I did I would cancel it over this,” tweeted CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski.

“We as a society have progressed beyond ever needing to hear from Casey Anthony again,” magazine writer Evan Ross Katz tweeted.

For those who need a refresher, in 2011, Anthony was acquitted of murder charges regarding the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony, whose remains were found in the woods near the Anthony family home six months after her death in 2008. Anthony was convicted on four misdemeanor counts of giving false information to law enforcement and sentenced to four years in prison plus credit for time served, according to CNN. She’s been a free woman since July 2011.
