Sunset

Hungarian auteur László Nemes is back with his sophomore effort following the Oscar-winning Son of Saul. This time he goes further back into history and depicts Budapest on the eve of World War I. Shot in the same dynamic and highly choreographed style as his debut, Sunset revolves around a revered hat shop where young women hone their craftsmanship and vie for the chance of being hired by Austro-Hungarian royalty. Revelations about the establishment’s tainted legacy emerge when Írisz Leiter (Juli Jakab), the daughter of the former owners, appears seeking answers.
