On July 7, 2009, the American Cinema Editors announced Avid Media Composer would be honored with the first-ever ACE Technical Excellence Award. “One of Avid’s unique characteristics is the fact that many of its employees are also experienced artists themselves, and so like us, they are obsessive about solving real challenges that actually make a difference in the editing room,” says ACE president Randy Roberts.

Avid has been integral to the world of moviemaking, for both professional and amateurs alike. The company has created a wide range of programs dealing with digital audio and video technology. Programs like ProTools, FilmScribe and Avid FX are the result of Avid’s continuous desire to improve the art of moviemaking. When embarking on the creation of a film, moviemakers can be reassured to find that Avid has a software or hardware for every aspect of the creative and practical moviemaking process.

“One of our long-standing principles is to deliver products and solutions that help our customers achieve their creative vision, however they define it,” says Kirk Arnold, Avid’s EVP of customer operations. “We are proud of our close relationship with ACE and will continue striving to earn the ongoing trust and support of this important community.”
