New Hitchcock iPhone App Helps With Storyboarding

A new iPhone/iPod Touch application aims to help moviemakers by making storyboarding an easier and more efficient process. The Mobile Storyboard Composer, called Hitchcock, has been released by Cinemek Incorporated. It enables users to create storyboards on the iPhone or iPod Touch by importing or taking a new photo and adding markups to denote the use of a dolly, zoom or pan. In addition, the Live Playback feature of the application allows users to note the duration of each panel, so the pacing of the sequence can be observed in real-time. Once the storyboard is complete it can be turned into a PDF and sent out via e-mail.

In a time when fewer and fewer moviemakers are storyboarding their films due to lack of time or money to hire a storyboard artist, Cinemek founder and CEO Jonathan Houser notes that “I am confident Hitchcock will be an important tool to assist storytellers of any medium to better visualize and share their ideas with others.”

Hitchcock is available for download on the Apple iTunes app store for $19.99. More information can be found at http://www.cinemek.com/hitchcock/.

The basic idea behind story boarding is that you plan what happens in each scene, making it easier to pull off your video shoot. For example, you might decide to shoot on location in Pittsburgh and need to know who is in a scene, what they will say, where they will move, and how the scene will be resolved.

This sounds great! Basically, Apple keeps on generating new applications from time to time to meet the consumers demand. Now, the quicker Adobe and Apple get over their respective beefs, the better it will be for every person. The OS 4. iPhone won’t run Adobe flash - though it’s tempting to mock Apple zealots who got payday loans to get in line to buy their new trinket and won’t stop slobbering - ha ha, it doesn’t do everything Droid Does! - and here I thought the point behind smart phones was adaptability and functioning as a PC and cell phone at once. Apple DOES have a point, in that Adobe eats up a fair degree of computing, and the iPhone OS does feature code that will translate Flash into an iPhone friendly version.

Before starting off, one needs to do their homework properly. One needs to study the market thoroughly. One should learn what the target audience wants and what kind of application best fits their needs. Only once you have a clear understanding about the consumers’ needs, you will be able to create a selling iPhone application or else your application would be rendered useless.
