I’m surprised to see Joblo but no SlashFilm or Cinematical, or Latino Review. I guess they are all somewhat similar in style in content.

http://www.indiegogo.com provides tools for fundraising, promotion, and discovery to the film and media industry. Anyone can showcase their work, mobilize their fans, and DIWO (Do-It-With-Others!).

I realize this isn’t the full article, but what is the list based on?
I’ll hit up Artful or John August for screenwriting, and a few of those other sites for info on eq and production techniques, but why would a filmmaker need to go to JoBlo or Movie Retriever?
Do I really need to read casting rumors or lists of the best horror films in order to make good movies?

A great jumping point to discussion. I agree that some of these lean toward movie-lovers, rather than makers (although most of us are both). Indiewire, Truly Free Film, Filmmaker Magazine’s blog, and the Workbook Project are my daily feed. cinematography.com is also excellent.

Bigstar.tv is awesome - I can’t believe they made this list!
At their site, you could win $1,000 for your short film and distribute your film online… They have lots of rare, international films..

Where’s Withoutabox.com? Film festivals too often represent the only “theatrical release” an indie movie’s going to get and Withoutabox is a great tool in figuring out your festival strategy… and of course applying to festivals.

For information purposes I use the mandy-webpage and kemps a lot

Some other sites that should be on the list for good production:
AICP.com - a great resource for commercials. Provides Great contact information to production companies, directorial rosters, etc. Useful site.
MyProductionGuide.com - my most used site when I need to budget a commercial for a foreign or out-of-state location. Provides all budgeting costs/fringes/etc. and they are street prices. Also - it informs on what is and what is not available regarding equipment and services for that location. Very Cool site.

I would also mention castingcallsearch.com. Totally free site for auditions and casting calls. Automatic submission for auditions and very few ads. Excellent tool for actors, models, musicians and dancers looking for work.
