Doug Liman has a blog on 30ninjas.com in which he talks honestly about fighting with studios, vfx, writing and development plus a certain amount of personal stuff. if you’re really interested in filmmaking, it’s worth following: http://30ninjas.com/category/blog/doug-liman-blog-blog

Comment by Désirée on 2/02/10 at 5:07 am

You missed mine of course at http://writerofmoviescripts.blogspot.com/.

And, more importantly, “Go Into the Story” at http://www.gointothestory.com/

Comment by Ben Blaine on 2/04/10 at 10:03 am

Aww shucks, thanks for that lovelies.

Comment by MarBelle on 2/04/10 at 11:35 am

Completely self-serving on my part but I think you should have included http://www.directorsnotes.com.

It’s a blog/podcast featuring over 200 interviews with indie filmmakers about the process of getting a film from concept to screen.

Comment by Alain Mayrand on 2/04/10 at 2:36 pm

Very nice list, but there is nothing about movie music (as usual)!

Check out http://www.gettingthescore.com which is for filmmakers wanting to learn more about the use of music in film.

Cheers!

Comment by Tim Clague on 2/04/10 at 2:48 pm

Comment by Becky on 2/21/10 at 3:18 am

Great list! We’re big fans of FilmSound.org, too! Woody Woodhall, principal of Allied Post Audio and co-founder of the Los Angeles Post Production Group has an informative blog about sound called http://www.WoodysSoundAdvice.com. It’s filled with great interviews with industry pros as well as reviews and information on audio post.

Comment by Jake Collins on 3/01/10 at 6:46 am

I think this has to be one of the WORST lists I’ve ever seen.  Sub par, outdated or just simply bad material on the whole…

Better luck next time.

Comment by Sven E Carlsson (FilmSound.org) on 3/31/10 at 10:25 am

Thanks for the mention

I’d strongly recommend picking up a copy of Sight and Sound, or googling Martin Scorcese’s favourite films, or even, in fact probably best of all, checking out anything that the quite amazing Cousins has written

Killer list. Saves me a lot of time from having to do hours of searching using every combination of “beginner independent budget movie production tips how to, etc”. I don’t make movies but I think the processes are relevant for better home video as well.
