Danny Boyle Finds His Slumdog Millionaire in India
Slumdog Millionaire, the new movie directed by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) with casting director Loveleen Tandan receiving a co-director credit, tells the story of a poor child named Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) who becomes a contestant on the Indian version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." A tired-sounding premise, perhaps, but if the chatter from Festivals Toronto and Telluride is to be believed (and who doesn't love feeding into that always-bloated festival buzz?) the movie has a chance to do some damage at the Oscars. Watch Boyle in the clip below speak about how to successfully scout locations and wax philosophical about directing. Also, pay particular attention to the skateboard-to-ground-to-stairs maneuver the Steadicam operator nails about halfway through.SHARE THIS STORY |
