Mike Leigh Is Happy-Go-Lucky

With his latest movie, Happy-Go-Lucky, director Mike Leigh (Secrets & Lies, Topsy-Turvy) seems to be heading toward a destination he's all too familiar with: The Oscars. Following up his thrice-nominated Vera Drake, Leigh seems to have all but secured an Oscar nod for lead Sally Hawkins (who has already picked up a Best Actress award at the Berlin International Film Festival for her turn as exceedingly chipper school teacher Poppy) and may be looking at his sixth nomination himself.
