(Festivals)

Lakedance is a festival built on a different premise - focus on promoting filmmakers and their quality films instead of glitz and glamor. About discovering and exposing talent, not exploiting it. Lakedance International Film Festival, takes place annually in Sandpoint, Idaho at the historic Panida Theater and other venues nearby. It was created in March 2006 by father and son Fred and Trevor Greenfield, two video and filmmakers, as an outlet for high quality but often overlooked international and domestic independent films. Lakedance's first festival was held on August 23rd-27th, 2006, and featured fifty-five films from nine countries, with varying genres and lengths from one minute to two hours. Nearly twenty representatives from these films were on hand to present their films and enjoy Sandpoint and the VIP Lounge to its fullest. This first festival was held under the name "Idaho Panhandle International Film Festival" or IPIFF, and also featured three key panel discussions, hosted by industry veteran Ted Parvin. Audiences of the Inland Northwest got a terrific introduction to film festivals in general, and in particular what Lakedance means and was trying to promote - quality in cinema. In 2007, Lakedance looks to capitalize on the terrific success of 2006 by further reinforcing its promotion of quality in cinema and by adding to the experience for audience members. Look for more special events such as panels and workshops involving some of todays hottest filmmakers and industry veterans, and more of an intimate viewing experience at our venues. Lakedance has many more plans to make 2007 an exciting celebration of international independent film, don't miss it - September 12-16th at the Panida Theater in downtown Sandpoint, Idaho.

A great poet, Dante, finds the perfect love relationship with Beatrice. Later, he discovers that their relationship cannot be consummated until the afterlife. He is then sent by God on a sacred mission to travel through Hell, Purgatory and Paradise to share the resulting experience with humankind. Beatrice appears in Limbo who asks Virgil, Dante's hero, to rescue Dante from 3 wild beasts, and to protect him from all perils and to guide him through Inferno and Purgatorio (first sequel movie). Inferno (Hell) is a central core of evil in the Earth's interior. There are nine circles in Hell, each corresponding to the seriousness of the sins of the damned souls, in the lowest of which is Lucifer himself, here known as Dis, frozen forever in ice up to his waist. Dante and Virgil must walk over Lucifer's bottom body to exit Inferno (Hell), and soon after to enter Purgatorio.
