In its thirteenth year, the Wisconsin Film Festival (Madison, Wisconsin, USA | March 30th to April 3rd, 2011) presents a broad range of independent American and world cinema (narrative, documentary, experimental, shorts), restorations and revivals, and locally made pictures from Wisconsin filmmakers. The festival plays in nine theaters, all within walking distance, in the heart of the state's capital city. The 2010 festival screened 192 films (roughly half features and half shorts) and had an attendance of 34,539 in just five days. Highlights include a retrospective of South Korean director Bong Joon-ho's four feature films, including his recent "Mother," and a special presentation and discussion of UW-Madison graduate Michael Mann's 2004 film "Collateral" by The New York Times' co-chief film critic, Manohla Dargis.

The 2009 festival will showcase feature films, shorts, foreign films, documentaries, animation, music videos, television pilots, an Environmental Filmmakers Showcase, experimental Films, a screenplay competition and more.

At ZGI, we teach one thing, how to make movies. If you want to take film criticism classes on the French New Wave, we're not for you. Concept to distribution within a year, that's what we do. We run the school like you're on a production. It's an intense experience but everyone who graduates has made their own short film. ZGI is located in beautiful Sedona, AZ. The program is fully accredited through Yavapai College and qualifies for all forms of financial aid, not to mention the affordable tuition.

Zaki Gordon Institute co-founder, Dan Gordon, writer of The Hurricane, Wyatt Earp, Passenger 57 and many other screenplays, play adaptations and novels, will take you first hand through his writing process. From concept to polished script, this dynamic, two-day workshop will cover what it takes to be a succesful writer . Gordon is a master storyteller who creates indelible characters and relationships. From Kevin Bacon’s haunting portrayal of Henry Young in Murder in the First to Kevin Costner’s darkly heroic lawman in Wyatt Earp, from Aidan Quinn’s conflicted spy in The Assignment to Denzel Washington’s towering portrayal of Rubin Carter in The Hurricane, Gordon’s characters are marked by their struggle to maintain their humanity in the face of overwhelming adversity. In addition to his long list of films, Gordon adapted the eight-time Oscar winning movie and novel Terms of Endearment for the stage. The production toured the UK starring Linda Gray of Dallas fame.
