Barefoot Workshops
(Education)
Our main goal is to equip the students with the knowledge and confidence to use sophisticated equipment while having a foundation that allows them to create beautiful images regardless of their tools. While we believe that every filmmaker should be a technical artist, we also want to develop an awareness for our surroundings which is essential to image-making and storytelling. Our philosophy is that filmmaking is a technical craft which we want you to master while never forgetting that it is first and foremost an art form. At the end of your barefoot experience, you should walk away with the technical know-how and confidence, the proper industry work code, the ability to tell a story, and a new appreciation and way of looking at the world around you.

Many of the directors will be here at the festival to talk about and answer your questions about their films, and this is possibly your only opportunity to get close to them and see their early works before they get "discovered". Also, the festival will feature the very successful annual event, Great Chefs of the South. Some of the finest culinary artists from the southeastern United States will be here to wine and dine you.
Beloit International Film Festival
(Festivals)
The Beloit International Film Festival, or 'BIFF,' is getting ready for its third and grandest season yet. What has been called "the next big thing" and "a must-attend event," by Moviemaker Magazine certainly lived up to its notices in its second year, setting some exciting standards to exceed in 2008. The four-day festival is one of four festivals in the country that the New York Times this year suggested as alternatives to Sundance. The 2008 BIFF will start on Jan.17 with a lavish launch party in Wisconsin's Gateway city of Beloit. www.beloitfilmfest.com

We take great care to cover your every need. Recognition? Yes, with over $20,000 in prizes to back the acknowledgment. Guest Services? You will have your own GS person to guide you wherever and whenever necessary. Parties? Let's just say that we are the 'Animal House' of festivals--only slightly more refined thanks to the restaurants (Merenda, run by San Francisco celeb chef Jody Denton), entertainment and bars that support the festival. BendFilm Festival is a destination that festival fairy tales are made of. Small town, scenic, full of character and yet, there's no attitude. "Altitude without Attitude" is a favored motto. We don't allow red velvet ropes within the city boundaries during the month of October. Instead we stage a festival that provides you every bit of access to the action, the esteemed jurors & industry vets for the opportunities and the fun.
