I just joined this forum. Hope you’re still looking for a response to your query. Computers used to come bundled with editing software and if this software is not now sold with the computer it is usually pretty cheap. I’m referring to iMovie for the Mac and Movie Maker for the PC.
These programs will allow you to make simple videos for YouTube, but everything comes with a learning curve. You likely won’t be able to do much within the first few minutes. You will have to read some of the documentation (or help files) that come with the programs and then experiment before getting seriously into your edit. Fortunately these programs are simple enough to learn quickly. Unfortunately they are also sometimes counter-intuitive . . . so be prepared to read the help files.
If you want something a little more sophisticated I’d suggest looking into Final Cut Express for the Mac or Adobe Premier Elements for the PC. There are also many other choices depending on how much you have to spend.
Just remember that there are no “immediate gratification” solutions. There’s always a learning curve, but once you learn, say, Final Cut Express you’ll have no problem with Final Cut Pro should to decide to upgrade in the future.
Hope this helps.
